Mountain Horse Footwear Care Instructions
Cleaning and Looking after your riding boots
Leather care:
It is essential that you maintain and look after your boots properly in order to preserve and extend the life of your boots, so we kindly ask you to follow the recommendations below:
1. Brush away any dirt, sand and grit from seams, zipper and around the outsole with a soft brush. Use a damp cloth, alternatively with a mild soap to wipe off the boot. then use shoe polish that is brushed in until a fine shine appears. The shoe cream itself contains everything required to keep the leather in good condition.
2. Never use strong chemicals, since they may damage the leather permanently. Never use glycerine soap as it can cause black leather to take on a greenish tone after a while.
3. If the leather is wet or damp, let the shoe / boot dry at room temperature before it is used again. Never use a hairdryer or radiators etc; this may cause dehydration and possible cracking of the leather.
4. Instead place crumpled newspaper or similar into the foot part and up the entire shaft.Use wax or leather dressing regularly to protect and condition the leather thus preservingthe flexibility and softness of the leather.
5. The use of boot trees is strongly recommended for all long boots with zips. Boot trees help to maintain the shape and upright position of the shaft and help to protect the life of the zip. Make sure the boots are dry before the boot trees are used.
Footwear Care Veganza / Synthetic Riding Boots
Use a soft brush to clean the zipper and all seams. Wipe the boots with a damp cloth. If that’s not enough, use a mild soap and then let the boots dry.
Mountain Horse Riding Boot Zip Care
Careful care and attention to the maintenance of the zip will help prolong the lifespan of the zip.
- Always open the zip all the way down to the bottom before putting on or taking off the boots.
- Make sure the zip opens and close easily. Never force the zip.
- Keep the zip clean from sand, mud and grit. An effective way to clean your zip and the teeth of the zip is with the use of an ordinary brush or toothbrush.
- The use of boot trees is strongly recommended for all long boots featuring zips. Boot trees help to maintain the shape of the boot by keeping the shaft upright and thus preventing damage to the zip. Make sure the boots are dry before the boot trees are used.
