Here at Houghton Country, we know that selecting the right rug for your horse can be difficult, especially in the changeable spring and autumn. So we select a large range of horse rugs from top brands such as Horseware, Shires, LeMieux and Bucas to help offer you as many options as possible to suit various shapes and sizes of horses and ponies.

As we are based in the North East of England our staff are well versed in keeping horses in wet weather so endeavour to offer turnout rugs for all times of the year from lightweights including fly rugs with waterproof panels which offer to do double duty to medium and heavy-weights to offer protection from the worst of the wet and cold of winter.

Selecting a turnout rug for your horse can be difficult and depends on a range of factors from the shelter available in the field your horse or pony is in as well as the breed, type and age of your horse. If your equine friend is stabled you may need to consider a stable rug or sheets if they need extra warmth as they can't move around freely to generate heat and stand still to eat. We offer a range of stable rugs sometimes known as horse blankets, at various weight with and without neck covers.

As well as traditional waterproof rugs and quilted stable rugs we also offer fly rugs in a variety of styles to offer protection from biting insects and other summer grazing hazards such as sunburn. We have a bright and colourful range of coolers and fleeces ideal for use either in the stable or travelling or after competition / hard work to help stave off a chill. Many of our coolers match with our travel boots and tail guards so you can arrive in style.

We also have spares and accessories to help your rugs when your horse decides to make alterations you didn't ask for or want them too.
