About us
Houghton Country is a specialist equestrian and country store in the North East of England just outside of Newcastle Upon Tyne. We stock all your favourite brands including industry giants LeMieux, Ariat and Horseware and are incredibly proud to have partnered with these brands in our store. In 2016 we opened our brand new, purpose-built store, the largest equestrian store in the North East and amongst the largest in Britain.
Our shop centrepiece is a huge circular 75 arm rug display which shows off some (but not all) of our extensive horse rug collection. As well as equestrian we are passionate about our country roots and offer brands that celebrate the very best of country tradition and style. We are enthusiastic about blurring the boundaries between fashion and country sporting heritage and are proud to offer an expansive collection of men’s, women’s and kid’s clothing including Dubarry boots, Hunter wellies, Ariat boots and Joules clothing. We now also stock a wide range of homewares and gifts and a very popular dog section with brands it's difficult to find elsewhere.
Inspired by country roots and British tradition, our Houghton Country website stocks everything for the horse, rider, dog, country home and dog walker ensuring you can get everything you need in one place. With fast delivery and great prices, Houghton Country is the ideal place for all your country and equestrian goods. At Houghton Country, we also know that no family is complete without the beloved dog, so we also stock a great range of country inspired products for dogs too including coats, toys and treats as well as comfy dog beds.
Houghton Country was established over 30 years ago and prides itself on having knowledgeable staff to assist in your purchases whether in-store or online. We have collected a number of awards over the years including SEIB Retailer of the Year 2018, Medium Retailer of the Year 2014 and runner-up 2016 and Mail Order runner-up 2018 and 2019 as well as winning in 2016.
Our store at Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland (just outside Newcastle Upon Tyne) is open 6 days a week to welcome you.
