Sprenger Horse Bits
Fitting:
- Size of bit - The bit measurement given is the inside of the ring to the inside of the ring across the mouthpiece.
- Ring Size - The measurement given is the inside of the ring top to bottom.
- Thickness - the thickness of the mouthpiece on this bit is measured on the mouthpiece inside the ring. The thickness of the bit required for your horse is determined by the anatomical needs of your horse's mouth.
Sprenger advises you consult your horses' dentist for advice and/or try the "2-finger-test" - put your clean index and middle fingers together and insert them into the horses' mouth where the bit usually lies.
If there is pressure on both fingers (small gap between upper and lower jawbone) a thinner mouthpiece is indicated as being more suitable - 14-16mm.
If there is little or no pressure on the fingers (larger gap) a thicker mouthpiece (16 - 18mm) may be suitable.
Please be aware using a too thick mouthpiece can exert pressure on the sensitive palate and can also cause bruises and injuries.
- Loose Ring bits should not exceed 5mm space between the corners of the mouth and the bit ring on each side. It should also not be too narrow since it must not pinch the corners of the mouth. The Ring should always be able to move freely.

Details
The Sprenger Sensogan Mullen Mouth Loose Ring is designed to relive the middle tongue of pressure until the rein aids are engaged. Ideal for horses with thick and fleshy tongues which can struggle with other types of bit. Suitable for strong and wilful horses and ponies this bit can also be used for the correction of tongue vices for a time period of 2-3 weeks.
The mouthpiece is made from Sensogan® a material developed by Sprenger building on the positive features of their original Aurigan metal to give a sophisticated and even more delicate connection to the horse. Sensogan® has a reduced Copper content and new ingredient Manganese to regulate the oxidation process more smoothly. This material has been tested in collaboration with the Veterinary University of Medicine Hannover and the German Riding School Warendorf and proven to be exceptionally well tolerated and easy to clean.

Delivery & Returns
We endeavour to post out your goods the same day they are ordered; however, in busy periods this can take a little longer.
UK Orders
- Standard UK delivery is £3.95 or free over £75* excluding non-Mainland, Highlands & Northern Ireland
- UK Mainland orders over £75 receive free delivery*
- UK Mainland Royal Mail Express is £5.95 an expedited tracked service.
- UK Mainland DPD Express Delivery is £5.95. If ordered on a Friday the next working day is Monday, in times of high parcel numbers DPD may deliver this on Saturday. There will be a text and/or email notification sent to let you know when DPD intend to deliver.
- UK Saturday Delivery - is £11.50 - Order before Friday 3pm.
- UK Sunday Delivery - is £11.50 - Order before Friday 3pm. We do not have a weekend collection so orders placed on Saturday for Sunday will be for the following Sunday.
- UK Non-Mainland Delivery is £3.95 under £50, or £8.50 on orders over £50 this is due to higher cost of shipping
- Smaller items are posted with Royal Mail and usually take 1-4 days from the point of order to arrive during normal levels of activity.
- *Some products must be shipped via DPD courier due to delivery restrictions, these are marked on our website as Courier or Free Click & Collect eg long items over 62cm, heavy items over 5kg and air canisters.
- Large, heavy or multiple items are delivered by DPD (signature required)
- A DPD Next Day Delivery service is available to the majority of mainland UK at a cost of £5.95 Monday to Thursday. Orders must be placed before 3pm (Monday - Thursday) to qualify. Orders placed after 3pm on DPD Next Day will be dispatched the following day. Orders placed after Friday 3pm and over the weekend will be dispatched on Monday. We do not get collections from DPD or Royal Mail on Bank Holidays. Our courier does not deliver on Bank Holidays.
- Saturday and Sunday named day delivery is £11.50 and available to most UK Mainland postcodes (excludes Highlands and Islands). Orders must be placed before 3pm on Friday, please note our courier does not collect from us at the weekend so orders must also be placed by 3pm on Friday.
- Postcodes ineligible for Next Day/Saturday Delivery – All Northern Ireland and Channel Islands, AB31-56, EI, F17-21, G83, GY9, HS1-9, IM, IV, KA27-28, KW0-17, PA20-78, PH15-99, TR21-25, ZE.
International Orders
- Standard Europe delivery is £9.50.
- Standard Worldwide delivery is £25.00 - please note there may be additional charges depending on the size and weight of your parcel and the location of delivery.
- Standard delivery prices for overseas orders are estimates only and in exceptional circumstances, we may not be able to fulfil your order for the quoted price, if this is the case you will be contacted by email
