Shirs Stirrup Leathers
As a general guide to the length required - Measure the length of your arm from your armpit to the tip of your fingers for jumping length (or alternatively measure your inseam to ankle for dressage), double to measurement and add 2-4 inches for jumping, or add 6-8 inches for flatwork. Stirrups will add another 6-8 inches to this.
The standard adult length is 54" for general riding and jumping. Shorter riders may select 48 - 52".
The average length for dressage riders is 60". Very tall riders may need 62-67 inches. Shorter dressage riders may choose 56-58 inches.
Usually, a rider will select stirrup leathers which allow them to shorten for jumping and lengthen for flatwork while still allowing enough spare to tuck into the stirrup leather keeper on the saddle to reduce bulk under the leg.
Adult stirrup leathers are 1 inch or more in width.
Children's stirrup leathers are thinner as they are expected to carry less weight.

These Shires Karben Ultra Grip FX Stirrups have been carefully balanced and constructed with reassuring safety benefits. Retaining form under normal circumstance, in the event of a fall the outer safety arm flexes under pressure, allowing escape of the foot and reducing incidence of serious injury to the rider. Following release, the rubber arm retains its original shape and purpose as a supportive lateral arm.
The stirrup is designed in ultra-light aluminium, cast for strength and with sleek lines. Low maintenance powder coating gives a durable finish. The foot plate is deep and secure, deep grip treads give excellent wet or dry traction, making the stirrups ideal for fast work. Secure and stabilising, the weighted base is shock absorbing to keep legs energised. The stirrup’s angled eyelet offers a more naturally optimised hip, knee and foot alignment and assists with retrieval.

Delivery & Returns
We endeavour to post out your goods the same day they are ordered; however, in busy periods this can take a little longer.
UK Orders
- Standard UK delivery is £3.95 or free over £75* excluding non-Mainland, Highlands & Northern Ireland
- UK Mainland orders over £75 receive free delivery*
- UK Mainland Royal Mail Express is £5.95 an expedited tracked service.
- UK Mainland DPD Express Delivery is £5.95. If ordered on a Friday the next working day is Monday, in times of high parcel numbers DPD may deliver this on Saturday. There will be a text and/or email notification sent to let you know when DPD intend to deliver.
- UK Saturday Delivery - is £11.50 - Order before Friday 3pm.
- UK Sunday Delivery - is £11.50 - Order before Friday 3pm. We do not have a weekend collection so orders placed on Saturday for Sunday will be for the following Sunday.
- UK Non-Mainland Delivery is £3.95 under £50, or £8.50 on orders over £50 this is due to higher cost of shipping
- Smaller items are posted with Royal Mail and usually take 1-4 days from the point of order to arrive during normal levels of activity.
- *Some products must be shipped via DPD courier due to delivery restrictions, these are marked on our website as Courier or Free Click & Collect eg long items over 62cm, heavy items over 5kg and air canisters.
- Large, heavy or multiple items are delivered by DPD (signature required)
- A DPD Next Day Delivery service is available to the majority of mainland UK at a cost of £5.95 Monday to Thursday. Orders must be placed before 3pm (Monday - Thursday) to qualify. Orders placed after 3pm on DPD Next Day will be dispatched the following day. Orders placed after Friday 3pm and over the weekend will be dispatched on Monday. We do not get collections from DPD or Royal Mail on Bank Holidays. Our courier does not deliver on Bank Holidays.
- Saturday and Sunday named day delivery is £11.50 and available to most UK Mainland postcodes (excludes Highlands and Islands). Orders must be placed before 3pm on Friday, please note our courier does not collect from us at the weekend so orders must also be placed by 3pm on Friday.
- Postcodes ineligible for Next Day/Saturday Delivery – All Northern Ireland and Channel Islands, AB31-56, EI, F17-21, G83, GY9, HS1-9, IM, IV, KA27-28, KW0-17, PA20-78, PH15-99, TR21-25, ZE.
International Orders
- Standard Europe delivery is £9.50.
- Standard Worldwide delivery is £25.00 - please note there may be additional charges depending on the size and weight of your parcel and the location of delivery.
- Standard delivery prices for overseas orders are estimates only and in exceptional circumstances, we may not be able to fulfil your order for the quoted price, if this is the case you will be contacted by email
