Details
Science Supplements SafeSalt is a unique formulation that provides a palatable source of sodium chloride (salt) while being gentle on your horse's stomach. Some horses find salt or electrolytes added to their feed to be unpalatable while fussy horses find it easy to leave them at the bottom of the feed manger due to their granular nature. There is also evidence that ordinary salt can cause or worsen gastric ulcers in horses.
SafeSalt is safe for your horse and its stomach, to overcome problems with palatability, gastric upset and gastric ulceration. Individual grains of salt coated in a special oil that will not dissolve in the mouth or stomach. The oil coating dissolves in the small intestine where electrolyte uptake is optimal and gentle on the stomach, unlike ordinary electrolytes.
Salt (sodium chloride, chemical formula NaCl) is a key nutrient required for nerve and muscle function, maintenance of normal hydration and digestive, kidney, lung and heart function. Forage is rich in potassium and chloride and in some cases calcium (e.g. alfalfa). The most common electrolyte deficient is sodium (Na) and most horses need supplemental salt. Horses in work, competing and racing require extra electrolytes to replace those lost in sweat, faeces and urine and sub-optimal electrolyte intake can lead to muscle problems and poor performance.
SafeSalt is an ideal alternative to ordinary salt or electrolytes for horses that go off their feed during hard work.

Mix thoroughly with feed and split between meals where possible.
Do not exceed the recommended intake.
Active Ingredients:
80% salt (NaCl) by weight. Each 28g (1 level 25ml scoop) of SafeSalt provides: 9.0g of sodium (Na);13.4g of chloride (Cl), equivalent to 22.4g sodium chloride (NaCl).
Composition:
Sodium chloride, vegetable oil, flavour.
Analytical Constituents:
Ash 75.9%, Chloride 48.1%, Sodium 31.9%, Oils & Fats 19.8%, Protein 0.0%, Fibre 0.0%.
Additives (per kg):
EC permitted mint flavour 2g.

We endeavour to post out your goods the same day they are ordered; however, in busy periods this can take a little longer.
UK Orders
- Standard UK delivery is £3.95 or free over £75* excluding non-Mainland, Highlands & Northern Ireland
- UK Mainland orders over £75 receive free delivery*
- UK Mainland Royal Mail Express is £5.95 an expedited tracked service.
- UK Mainland DPD Express Delivery is £5.95. If ordered on a Friday the next working day is Monday, in times of high parcel numbers DPD may deliver this on Saturday. There will be a text and/or email notification sent to let you know when DPD intend to deliver.
- UK Saturday Delivery - is £11.50 - Order before Friday 3pm.
- UK Sunday Delivery - is £11.50 - Order before Friday 3pm. We do not have a weekend collection so orders placed on Saturday for Sunday will be for the following Sunday.
- UK Non-Mainland Delivery is £3.95 under £50, or £8.50 on orders over £50 this is due to higher cost of shipping
- Smaller items are posted with Royal Mail and usually take 1-4 days from the point of order to arrive during normal levels of activity.
- *Some products must be shipped via DPD courier due to delivery restrictions, these are marked on our website as Courier or Free Click & Collect eg long items over 62cm, heavy items over 5kg and air canisters.
- Large, heavy or multiple items are delivered by DPD (signature required)
- A DPD Next Day Delivery service is available to the majority of mainland UK at a cost of £5.95 Monday to Thursday. Orders must be placed before 3pm (Monday - Thursday) to qualify. Orders placed after 3pm on DPD Next Day will be dispatched the following day. Orders placed after Friday 3pm and over the weekend will be dispatched on Monday. We do not get collections from DPD or Royal Mail on Bank Holidays. Our courier does not deliver on Bank Holidays.
- Saturday and Sunday named day delivery is £11.50 and available to most UK Mainland postcodes (excludes Highlands and Islands). Orders must be placed before 3pm on Friday, please note our courier does not collect from us at the weekend so orders must also be placed by 3pm on Friday.
- Postcodes ineligible for Next Day/Saturday Delivery – All Northern Ireland and Channel Islands, AB31-56, EI, F17-21, G83, GY9, HS1-9, IM, IV, KA27-28, KW0-17, PA20-78, PH15-99, TR21-25, ZE.
International Orders
- Standard Europe delivery is £9.50.
- Standard Worldwide delivery is £25.00 - please note there may be additional charges depending on the size and weight of your parcel and the location of delivery.
- Standard delivery prices for overseas orders are estimates only and in exceptional circumstances, we may not be able to fulfil your order for the quoted price, if this is the case you will be contacted by email
