Equicoat
Say goodbye to fair-weather riding with Equicoat! Equestrian dry robes have taken the market by storm in recent years, and with the relentlessly wet British weather, it is no surprise that this style of waterproof coat is increasingly seen in the discerning equestrian’s wardrobe. As equestrians, we spend a great deal of time outdoors, often battling the elements to fulfil our passion; Equicoat believes every equestrian deserves to be as comfortable as possible while enjoying time around horses and manufactures pragmatic, simple, yet intelligently designed oversized waterproof equestrian coats to help you make the most of your equestrian lifestyle, whatever the weather.
Equicoat’s story began in 2014, when rider Christopher Frost found he was struggling to find equestrian apparel that made spending time outside, in and out of the saddle, less of a chore and more enjoyable. So began the design process of waterproof equestrian coats that made use of innovative fabric technology, were incredibly comfortable, and remain stylish. Equicoat’s mission is to provide equestrians with the most advanced and highest quality equestrian waterproof coats at an affordable price – so every rider can enjoy riding further and for longer in all weather conditions.
As official Equicoat stockists, we have all the latest products from this exciting brand for you to try on in-store, or to order online for quick dispatch.
The waterproof rating of Equicoat coats varies between different styles, but all the products from their range are designed to withstand prolonged periods of moderate or shorter periods of heavy rain. The added benefit of the waterproof rating that all Equicoat apparel meets is that it is not only extremely waterproof, but also breathable. Gone are the days when a waterproof jacket would quickly feel clammy inside! This breathability helps wick moisture away from the skin, while the outer fabric repels water. The various linings of these jackets, whether they add insulation or not, are additionally breathable. The end result is that you are able to stay at a comfortable temperature on mild or cold days while remaining dry.

Equicoat jackets are suitable for riding in, whereas many dry robes of this style are difficult to wear in the saddle due to their sometimes bulky design. Equicoats feature gussets that allow you to sit as normal in the saddle while the back of the coat goes over the cantle of the saddle. There are also leg straps to keep the coat secure over the tops of your legs. These coats therefore keep not only your legs dry, but also protect most of your saddle from the rain! An Equicoat is all you’ll need to enjoy hacking, schooling or warming up in the worst of weather.
If you are looking for a waterproof riding coat with a hood, Equicoat coats tick all the boxes. They come with an extra-large hood that fits over the top of a riding hat to keep the back of your neck and your hair dry. While it is not recommended to wear the hood up while hacking in case it prevents you from seeing or hearing potential hazards, putting your hood up over your riding helmet while riding in an arena is sure to make schooling in the rain a lot more enjoyable.
Equicoat jackets not only keep you dry, but also warm, with some designs featuring Sherpa fleece lining for maximum insulation while enhancing breathability. Other styles meanwhile feature a breathable mesh lining which keeps the jacket extra lightweight, suitable for wear on wet yet mild days. A Sherpa fleece lined waterproof coat offers maximum protection from the elements, while a mesh-lined one keeps you cool in summer rain.
The sizing of Equicoats is oversizes, and this fit means they are ideal for layering, sure to keep you feeling snug fastened over the top of a jumper and gilet or padded jacket on very cold days, or worn with a roomier fit over the top of riding tights and a base layer when it is milder. They are not intended to be fitted and allow room for freedom of movement while completing yard duties and riding. If you’re prone to getting your competition breeches dirty on show days, an Equicoat is also the perfect solution for keeping your best show gear dry and clean right up until you go in the ring! The coats are also unisex in their fi, with children’s sizes also available.
An Equicoat is essential for those equestrians who won’t let bad weather stand in the way of pursuing their passion. With various weights, linings and waterproof ratings between different styles, there is an equestrian dry robe from this brand to keep every rider comfortable in all weathers and temperatures.

To ensure you keep dry head to toe, pair your Equicoat with a good pair of wellies. During your time in the saddle, fasten your leg straps so your Equicoat meets the top of your long riding boots, to keep every inch of you dry.
