Riding Hats

Lightweight and highly ventilated Uvex equestrian helmets are popular for leisure riding as well as dressage and show jumping competitions. They have a fixed peak design so are not suitable for cross-country riding.

How to measure your head for a riding helmet

Using a soft flexible measuring tape, wrap it around the widest part of your head. The head circumference is measured a finger width above the eyebrows.

It is helpful to do this with the hairstyle you are most likely to ride with.

Take the measurement several times in centimetres to ensure a more accurate measurement.

Unlike many traditional designs, Uvex Riding Helmets have an adjustable circumference with an IAS 3D dial system at the back.

They have four shell sizes - XXXS-S (junior); XXS-S; S-M; L-XL and cater for riders with a head size between 49 - 61cm.

Some of the sizes do cross between shell sizes, it is a matter of trying both and finding which feels best when on the head. The helmet should have a secure fit even with the chin strap open.

Uvex IAS allows helmets can be adjustable in width.

Dial Adjustment System

When trying a Uvex Hat the dial should be loosened, the hat put on then tightened.

The dial in the back of Uvex hats is used to tighten a ring within the hat to tighten and loosen the hat. Each dial has a maximum it can be tightened, if the dial reaches this point and the hat is still too big then a smaller-sized shell is required. If the dial is loosened as far as it can go and the hat is still too tight then a larger size may be required.

The uvex IAS 3D system should contact the head where there is a natural curve at the back of the head.

Height Adjustment

Uvex IAS 3D offers an added feature of precise adjustment to the head height.

The height of the hat can be adjusted in some styles to ensure a correct fit. There is an adjustable ratchet closure on the sides.

The helmet should be positioned horizontally on your head. The helmet should not sit too far back, otherwise, the forehead will not be protected, conversely, the hat should not be too far down over the forehead as this can affect sight.

Y-Divider

The length of the chin strap can also be adjusted to ensure a correct fit.

Monomatic comfort closure

The uvex monomatic comfort closure must be fully inserted until the final click. Two fingers should fit between the chin and strap.

When not in use your helmet should be safely stored in cool and dry conditions protected from daylight with no contact with chemicals and not exposed to pressure or stress. When transporting it is recommended that a protective layer such as a hat bag is used.

Use mild soap only, strong chemicals can damage the finish of the hat.

Inner Fittings

All inner fittings carry a washing instruction label, and replacement parts are available in case they get damaged.

The hat liner is removable and is machine washable 30°C.
