Details
The Rambo Micklem 2 Competition Bridle builds and improves on the original revolutionary Micklem bridle that was one of the first bridles to take into account the horse's skull, teeth and nerve pathways to help reduce pressure and discomfort on sensitive parts of the head.
After listening to customer feedback Horseware has engineered an improved bridle that is designed to be even more comfortable and more humane, enabling horses to perform better.
Designed to overcome the five main areas of bridle discomfort the Micklem 2 has a curved headpiece to help eliminate discomfort caused by the pressure on the nerves of the poll and ears; minimises internal mouth damage and overcomes numbness in the lower half of your horse's face that can be caused by pressure on the facial nerves; reduces any discomfort or restriction of breathing caused by a low fitting dropped nosebands and removes discomfort and pain under the caused by pressure with a unique noseband and back strap combination.
The key improvements from the Original Micklem are an improved curved headpiece that mirrors the shape of the horse's head, curving around the horse's ears and avoiding nerve pressure and increasing comfort. An upgraded nosepiece with increased width over the front of the nose to more evenly distribute pressure over the front of the nose; an improved bottom back straps with a small innovative curve that enable the bridle to fit more comfortably around the bit and an updated browband with an elegantly refined shape.
There are additional charges to the upper back strap position with the point being higher allowing the bridle to be pulled backwards helping to keep the cheekpiece and headpiece away from the horse's ears, a slightly wider bit strap, new longer length bit straps to allow you to use alternative bit cheeks more easily.
The Micklem 2 competition bridle offers a different type of bridle that takes into account the horse's anatomy for a more harmonious design which takes what was learnt from the Orginal Micklem and makes improvements for even more comfort.
The Micklem design is useful for all types of horses and is acceptable for all types of competition and is FEI approved. It can be particularly useful for horses that are sensitive in the mouth, those that drop or evade contact as well as those that struggle with bit movement, are fussy in the mouth and those that are tight in the jaw in a normal bridle.

Delivery & Returns
We endeavour to post out your goods the same day they are ordered; however, in busy periods this can take a little longer.
UK Orders
- Standard UK delivery is £3.95 or free over £75* excluding non-Mainland, Highlands & Northern Ireland
- UK Mainland orders over £75 receive free delivery*
- UK Mainland Royal Mail Express is £5.95 an expedited tracked service.
- UK Mainland DPD Express Delivery is £5.95. If ordered on a Friday the next working day is Monday, in times of high parcel numbers DPD may deliver this on Saturday. There will be a text and/or email notification sent to let you know when DPD intend to deliver.
- UK Saturday Delivery - is £11.50 - Order before Friday 3pm.
- UK Sunday Delivery - is £11.50 - Order before Friday 3pm. We do not have a weekend collection so orders placed on Saturday for Sunday will be for the following Sunday.
- UK Non-Mainland Delivery is £3.95 under £50, or £8.50 on orders over £50 this is due to higher cost of shipping
- Smaller items are posted with Royal Mail and usually take 1-4 days from the point of order to arrive during normal levels of activity.
- *Some products must be shipped via DPD courier due to delivery restrictions, these are marked on our website as Courier or Free Click & Collect eg long items over 62cm, heavy items over 5kg and air canisters.
- Large, heavy or multiple items are delivered by DPD (signature required)
- A DPD Next Day Delivery service is available to the majority of mainland UK at a cost of £5.95 Monday to Thursday. Orders must be placed before 3pm (Monday - Thursday) to qualify. Orders placed after 3pm on DPD Next Day will be dispatched the following day. Orders placed after Friday 3pm and over the weekend will be dispatched on Monday. We do not get collections from DPD or Royal Mail on Bank Holidays. Our courier does not deliver on Bank Holidays.
- Saturday and Sunday named day delivery is £11.50 and available to most UK Mainland postcodes (excludes Highlands and Islands). Orders must be placed before 3pm on Friday, please note our courier does not collect from us at the weekend so orders must also be placed by 3pm on Friday.
- Postcodes ineligible for Next Day/Saturday Delivery – All Northern Ireland and Channel Islands, AB31-56, EI, F17-21, G83, GY9, HS1-9, IM, IV, KA27-28, KW0-17, PA20-78, PH15-99, TR21-25, ZE.
International Orders
- Standard Europe delivery is £9.50.
- Standard Worldwide delivery is £25.00 - please note there may be additional charges depending on the size and weight of your parcel and the location of delivery.
- Standard delivery prices for overseas orders are estimates only and in exceptional circumstances, we may not be able to fulfil your order for the quoted price, if this is the case you will be contacted by email
