From their base in Stockholm, Sweden, the team behind this brand set about to manifest this vision in the form of anatomical bridles that are designed to optimise harmonious communication between the rider and the horse. PS of Sweden bridles are designed with the anatomy of the horse’s head in mind, avoiding pressure on delicate structures and instead sitting neatly around the contours of the horse’s skull. No two horses’ heads are the same, however, and so the bridles are also very adjustable, with buckles for easy adjustment to both sides of the noseband and headpiece, allowing you to achieve a bespoke fit.

The headpieces of these bridles are ergonomically curved or ‘cut back’ to avoid putting pressure on the base of the ears, an area at which horses are incredibly sensitive. The headpieces are also wide, covering a broad surface area, thus dispersing any pressure over a larger space, which suits horses that are sensitive at the poll. If you use a bit that exerts poll pressure, it is especially beneficial to use an ergonomic headpiece on your bridle, however most horses will appreciate the comfortable design of these headpieces regardless of which bit they are ridden in.

There are many different noseband designs on PS of Sweden bridles, designed to amplify the rider’s aids to horses that have a tendency towards various evasions. All of these designs are ergonomically designed with facial anatomy in mind, avoiding pressure on sensitive areas and instead placing it over a broad surface area on less delicate structures.

PS of Sweden bridles do not come with a traditional throat lash, as PS of Sweden have demonstrated that a throat lash will not prevent the bridle from being pulled over the ears in the event of a fall or the horse shaking its head. A throat lash therefore, according to this brand, creates an unnecessary point of contact with the horse’s face. There are separate throat lashes available for purchase that can be easily attached if you prefer to ride with a throat lash or if the rules of your sport demand one.

PS of Sweden bridles are made from English or Italian vegetable tanned leather, which is incredibly soft and supple. It is important to take care of your bridle and our range of leather care products has everything you need to keep your leather in great condition and looking smart. You must oil your bridle when it is new to nourish the leather, and this will help it to not only feel soft and supple but also helps ensure the leather lasts. Once you start using your bridle, it is advised to clean any dirt or grease regularly if not immediately, either daily or weekly, followed by conditioning of the leather using a leather conditioner.
